We developed NanoBeacon™ Technology to address an unmet need in the RFID market. Active RFID solutions provide a number of additional benefits when compared to their passive counterparts such as longer-range support and enhanced functionality such as being able to send out sensor measurements and data points.
The problem with the Bluetooth-based active RFID systems currently available in the market is two-fold:
- High cost: Active RFID solutions available are too cost-prohibitive to be a feasible replacement for passive RFID solutions. This applies not only to the chipset cost but also to the development and manufacturing costs.
- High complexity: Active RFID solutions available are too complex and overkill for their purpose.
Our ultimate goal with NanoBeacon™ Technology is to democratize active RFID technology so that anyone can develop a system based on this technology with no required software development experience and at a cost that is low enough to serve as a viable replacement for passive RFID solutions.
